Originally run by the Historic Strater Hotel, the Durango Ragtime and Early Jazz Festival was reformed by Adam Swanson as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The specific purposes and objectives of our corporation shall include, but not be limited to, preserving, sharing, and celebrating early American ragtime and jazz music by providing a festival to educate through seminars and lessons, engage young people, and inspire all who are touched by the power of this uniquely American music, recognizing that music plays a pivotal role in American heritage. In cooperation with the Strater Hotel and Durango Arts Center, we hope to continue this mission many years into the future and keep the ragtime playing in the Old West.
